New web tool for producers to measure your carbon footprint

 POSTED ON JUNE 13, 2022

HortCarbon Info is a new tool for horticultural producers to measure their carbon footprint and is currently in its final testing phase.

The tool is currently being tested with real data from mixed vegetable and perennial cropping businesses in the Lockyer Valley and Granite Belt.

It uses farm inputs, electricity, fuel, fertilizer, crop residue and crop type, combined with Australian Standard Greenhouse Gas emissions factors to accurately calculate carbon dioxide – equivalent emissions in tonnes per farmed hectare.

In its final testing phase this free web tool will enable any business to complete a confidential online carbon footprint analysis for any 12-month period they choose (usually a financial year). It will be available from early July 2022.
