Research and development is key for supporting the needs of growers to improve the viability and profitability of the melon industry. to provide advice on the requirements for research & development, Hort Innovation has established a Strategic Investment Advisory Panel of melons.

The Biosecurity levy is manged by Plant Health Australia and will fund the melon industry's commitments to exotic pest eradication plans and a project to better understand possible exotic pest threats.
